Nobuyoshi Araki “Monstrous Paradise”

Taché Art Gallery is pleased to present the first Barcelona exhibition of acclaimed Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, curated by the European Cultural Centre Spain, represented by Elena Volnykh and Anna Semenova. The exhibition showcases a unique series of works developed by the artist over the past three decades and will remain open to the public until July 31.
The origin of this project goes back to 1999. The Dutch artist and patron Rene Rietmeyer met with Araki at the opening of his exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. While being introduced, Araki turned to the Japanese girl that was with Rene and whispered in her ear some Japanese words. Then Araki signed one of his photos and wrote the text of those words just spoken on it. “I want to stick my finger inside”. That sentence stuck in Rietmeyer’s memory.
