Taché Art Gallery presents Leaving the Shore, the new solo exhibition by Barcelona-
based American artist Allison Malinsky. In her first exhibition at the gallery, the artist brings
together a series of paintings made between 2021 and 2024.
Malinsky moves with the freedom afforded by liminal spaces. Her work defies
classification and moves fluidly between the vague boundaries of abstraction and
figuration. Characterized by vibrant and energetic language, her work also expands and
questions the very limits of painting, sometimes even discarding the pictorial support to
transform it into complex three-dimensional structures. This is especially evident in the
Interview with the Sea series, where hidden engineered components support her large
format, folded, and sewn gestural paintings.
