RamĂłn Masats is doubtless one of the main photographers of his generation and a key figure in the renovation of the documentary reportage since the sixties as well.
Together with Miserachs, Maspons and TerrĂ© he is part of a group of photographers that –under the influence of CatalĂ -Roca- proposed to honestly portrait the society and the country in which they were living. They decisively contributed to the integration of the photography into the cultural realm in that time.
After more than two decades using black and white, Masats started using color in his photographs by the early eighties. In 1999 the CĂrculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid shown a big retrospective of his work and, in 2004, he obtained the National Photography Award in recognition to his whole career.
