Bernard Plossu

Dá Lat, South Vietnam, 1945
National Prize for Photography in France in 1988, Bernard Plossu is considered a master in the handling of black and white.
The beginning of his career as a photographer coincides with a trip to the Sahara in 1958. Since then, his vast photographic work is inseparable from his traveler vocation.
Since 1975 Plossu works with a focal of 50 mm which -in his own words- situates him "outside commercial photography."
In 1988 the Centre Pompidou presented a big retrospective exhibition of his work.
