Grau held his first solo exhibition in 1979, at galeria Buades in Madrid. He is considered one of the main Catalan painters of his generation, within the abstract aspect, with the distinctive character of abstract expressionism, a source of expressive power and emotional honesty. His work can be seen, among other collections, at Fundació Juan March, Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM), MACBA, Museo de Arte Abstracto de Cuenca, Col·lecció d'Art Contemporani collection of Fundació La Caixa and Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina SofÃa.
He has collaborated with the Galeria Carles Taché by lending his work s/t (2014) for the exhibition Tribute to catalan contamporary art.
